Akudjura is a shrub native to South Africa. Its fruit is edible and contains high levels of vitamin C.

 Solanum is a genus of flowering plants in the nightshade family, Solanaceae. There are about 1,500 species of solanums, including potatoes, tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, tobacco, and many ornamental plants.

Vitamin C is a water-soluble antioxidant that occurs naturally in citrus fruits and vegetables. It is necessary for the formation of collagen and elastin, two structural components of connective tissue. Vitamin C is also involved in immune function, wound healing, and reproduction.



Nightshades are a group of flowering plants in the Solanoideae subfamily of the nightshade family (Solanaceae). The name comes from the Latin word noctes, meaning “night”.

 Solanum is derived from the Greek words Σωλαντικός, meaning “of the potato”, and σάνομα, meaning “name”.

 In the past, the leaves were eaten raw or cooked. Today they are commonly dried and ground into flour.

 The fruit is harvested when fully ripe and is edible and contains a high level of vitamin C.

It is rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and fiber and  high in vitamin C and low in calories.

This fruit is rich and nutritious.
